In the midst of the ongoing football season, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid encounter one another in Saudi Arabia. However, their encounter will be the deciding factor that dictates who gets to lift the Spanish Super Cup. Barcelona, led by Xavi Hernandez, will be hoping to defend and retain the title they won last year over Los Blancos.
However, the sail towards that title will not be just smooth progressions. Instead, there are a lot of collective issues and even personal inconsistencies within this Barcelona team. Many players are currently unable to perform at their best possible level, and it is telling in their overall score-lines.
Be that as it may, there are specifically those who have a rather poor track record against specific opponents. For Barcelona, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, that player would be none other than Portuguese star Joao Felix, currently on loan from Atletico Madrid.
To put things into perspective, the 24-year-old forward has never tasted victory against Los Blancos. In fact, beyond just victory, Felix has never even managed to score against Real Madrid. This is even more impressive for Real Madrid given that Felix has attempted to do so with three different clubs.
However, even though at first he was showcasing his best levels at Barcelona, Felix has declined this season as well. Yet, one way or another, he puts on quite the surreal displays from time to time. This, at least temporarily, allows people to see the talent that the young forward truly has hidden away inside of him.
Irrespective of that bottle-up talent, however, Xavi will want to see consistency. After performing against Osasuna and showcasing that he is still worth trusting with a big responsibility, Felix may just get his latest shot at overcoming Real Madrid in some way. However, he will need to perform at his highest possible level to do so.
