There remains a great concern at FC Barcelona regarding their top stars who are currently suffering from injuries. The second half of the season begins shortly, and the Blaugranes are currently not exactly where they want to be. Moreover, Barcelona needs its best players available in order to help the club compete properly.

Certain injuries are long-term, and the return of certain players is not expected any time soon. Marc Andre Ter Stegen, following his back injury, is not expected to be back until at least mid-February. Similarly, Marcos Alonso and Gavi are also out for longer durations due to different injuries.

One man whose return Barcelona do eagerly anticipate, however, is Pedri. The 21-year-old has been unavailable since right before the Almeria game due to a muscular problem. Although it is not guaranteed by any means, SPORT reports that Barcelona are hoping to have him back in time for the Spanish Super Cup.

The youngster’s Barcelona career has been riddled with various injuries thus far already at such a young age. Yet, his most recent one has become more problematic than was initially expected. Barcelona remain clear about their progression with the player’s recovery, that he will not be forced to return until he has 100% recovered.

While he did not participate in the team’s recent open-door training session, he did some individual gym work. He will most certainly miss the upcoming games against Las Palmas and Barbastro, but beyond that, there remains hope.

The Spanish Super Cup kicks off in Saudi Arabia on the 11th of January, and the Catalan giants first take on CA Osasuna. Scheduled as the first of two semi-finals, Barcelona will take on whoever wins between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid if they manage to overcome their own opponents.

Pedri’s sensations will dictate when exactly he returns, but Barcelona hopes that he does so sooner rather than later. The prodigious midfielder manages to transform this Barcelona team whenever he plays, and his absence is definitely being felt.
