While not every player gets to shine at FC Barcelona, the Catalans are known to take risky bets. Pedri was one of the first such bets, alongside Ronald Araujo, but both ended up being great investments for Barcelona. So much so that the Catalan giants continued to invest in obscure talents.
One of the rising stars of Racing Santander, Pablo Torre was another player Barca put their faith in. Acquiring him in 2022, Barcelona expected great things of the young Spanish midfielder. However, things did not turn out to be all sunshines and rainbows, leading to him soon being loaned out.
Life has not been easy on loan either, however. Currently playing for Girona, the player has been struggling to gain prominence. However, recent injuries to other players and Michel’s bet on him to star for Girona in the Copa Del Ray has managed to pay off.
As highlighted by SPORT, the 20-year-old midfielder was crucial for the Catalan outfit in their match against Orihuela. In the 7th minute of the game, Torre contributed his first goal of the season and put Girona in the lead.
Despite this, their opponents managed to score two goals to head into the halftime break as 2-1 leaders. However, Michel’s side managed to showcase the determination that has kept them on top of the La Liga table for much of the current campaign and emerged as 5-2 victors, scoring four goals in the second half.
For Torre, this performance will give him a new life and will also increase his merit in the eyes of Michel. The coach was already promising the youngster more minutes moving forward, but it seems that the player has already earned them.
Barcelona, on the other hand, will also be rubbing their hands in anticipation. Girona next face La Blaugrana at the Montjuic Stadium, but will not be able to count on Torre’s services. Due to a certain fear clause, the Barcelona loanee can not feature against his parent club this season.
