FC Barcelona is one of the most competitive clubs in the world of football, and only the best and the luckiest are able to make a place for themselves at Camp Nou. While player effort and commitment are definitely important, this is not something which alone can guarantee you success at the Catalan club.
This fact was experienced first-hand in recent years by one of Barcelona’s players, Ansu Fati. The player showed full commitment to stay and succeed with the club, but the presence of other forwards in better form than him, and the stage of his career, which required maximum minutes on the pitch, resulted in Barcelona sending him on loan.
The player joined Brighton and Hove Albion this summer on a season-long loan, but is yet to make his debut with Roberto de Zerbi’s side.
This is going to change today, according to Mundo Deportivo, which reports that the youngster is likely to make his Premier League debut in the match against Manchester United.
In fact, De Zerbi himself acknowledged in a presser before the match that Fati was ready to get his first minutes with Brighton: “I don’t know if it will be at the start of the game or during the second half, but he is ready to play.”
The Brighton coach went on to explain his reasons for Fati not having already made his debut yet:
“Obviously, it’s difficult to grasp everything at the beginning, after a week with three or four training sessions. I want to give him as much time as possible to understand how we play, and then he can enjoy playing and showcase his skills. I told him, ‘I want to enjoy watching your skills,’ and I don’t want to pressure Ansu.”
Thus, Fati will get his first chance to show his talents in a highly competitive league, and against one of the biggest clubs in the world. Hopefully, he can pass this test with flying colors to get an important role in Brighton and then return to Barcelona for a successful career.
