FC Barcelona have their work cut out for the upcoming summer transfer window. After finding a suitable replacement for Xavi, the Catalans will have to find some players who can mitigate the weaknesses in the current squad.

The priority of the club is to sign a midfield pivot, as Oriol Romeu has been unable to perform the role that was expected from him this season. In addition to this midfielder, Barcelona are also likely to try to bring in some other players, including a forward.

In this regard, one of the players who has been linked with the Catalans in the last few weeks is the English winger, Mason Greenwood. The Manchester United-owned player is currently playing on loan in Spain with Getafe and has been quite impressive with the Madrid-based club.

Only yesterday, there were reports of a meeting taking place between Deco and Manchester United officials, and the media speculated that the topic of Greenwood was one of the items on the agenda of that meeting.

However, the acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano now claims that the Catalans are not currently working on a deal for the Englishman. Barcelona are currently focused on other targets, even though Manchester United are open to selling the forward, and there have been links with the Blaugranes in recent weeks.

Greenwood has scored six goals and provided five assists in 23 appearances under Jose Bordalas this season. These performances will make him a very attractive target for Barcelona.

However, the player has a tainted past, and his controversial figure is one of the reasons why United are not looking to extend his contract, which goes till 2025. But being one of the most socially conscious clubs in the world, getting Greenwood would also face some resistance from within Barcelona.

Thus, while he can be a good sporting option, Greenwood might not be a top priority for Barcelona at the moment.
