Protecting the continuity of their brightest talents is a massive priority for FC Barcelona. Now at a stage where they can not simply spend without major consequences, relying on homegrown talents has proven to be an adequate alternative. However, even on that end, Barcelona have to be aware of contractual obligations.

It is exactly due to this reason that the Catalan giants moved so swiftly when it came to the renewals of Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, and their latest work that aims to renew Fermin Lopez as well. However, beyond just these first-team starlets, there are names within the quarry that are also considered priorities for Barcelona.

One such name is that of Guille Fernandez. Considered by many as La Masia’s next biggest star after Lamine Yamal, the 15-year-old midfielder is making great progress within the Barcelona youth divisions. However, his contract expires at the end of this season, and Barça are thus working in overdrive.

According to Mundo Deportivo, due to the interest shown in the dynamic young midfielder by teams from Germany and England, Barcelona knew that they must be quick with his renewal. Consequently, FC Barcelona have reportedly already sent a renewal proposal to the player and his entourage.

As per the details provided by MD, this new proposal offers Fernandez the chance to renew with the club for three more years. Furthermore, it reportedly also has a clause worth an additional two years, but that one is mainly optional to give the player more room to maneuver with his future.

For the player himself, as per MD, the priority remains to continue with Barcelona. This is clear to his agent, Jorge Mendes, as well and they will look to put Barcelona before anything else. Despite being at the age of a typical Cadet player, Fernandez continues to excel and is already at the Juvenil B level in terms of where he typically plays these days.

Aiming for the first team one day, Fernandez keeps his future with Barcelona firmly in his mind. Already a dynamic player with quality and maturity far above those from his own age group, it may not be long before he ends up becoming a regular with Barcelona Atletic as well as making a potential first-team debut given his immense potential and upwards trajectory.
