Barcelona continue to assess their financial situation and how it can possibly be improved. However, the worst problem with their current economic vulnerability is that it limits them to an extreme extent. Given that Barcelona are already halfway through this season, certain decisions become even harder to make.
Primarily, La Blaugrana are not willing to part ways with any of their players at this point. Given their inability to incorporate any new alternatives, they simply can not risk letting off of any players. However, the upcoming summer of 2024 may be an entirely different story altogether.
One of the stars that could possibly be on his way out is Raphinha. The Brazilian winger, as reported by SPORT, has attracted the attention of Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. Moreover, the club from the Middle East is reportedly willing to spend big on the Brazilian forward.
While there were reports suggesting Raphinha could be sold in January, but it seems that Barcelona have no intentions of selling anyone in the winter. Instead, they look towards the summer up ahead, and could look to profit off a major sale.
Raphinha arrived from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, costing somewhere beyond €58 million once variables are included. The player’s first season was decent, but quite irregular. Thus, Barça had hoped for a better season from him for this campaign but those same problems seem to have followed.
However, they ultimately remain confident in his abilities for now. Xavi seems to still have Raphinha as his most trusted right-winger, having more minutes than either Ferran Torres or Lamine Yamal. Thus, at least for this season, Raphinha has a chance to prove himself.
The Brazilian continues to have a market in the English Premier League, but the Middle East is now attentive too. Al-Hilal remain the front runners when it comes to interested clubs, and they would be willing to offer a sum well beyond what other European sides could possibly offer.
