It would appear that new avenues continue to open up for FC Barcelona in every direction. In terms of their management and squad itself, there are already reports of a massive revamp in the summer. However, beyond just the necessities, Barcelona also keep an eye out on other opportunities.

For now, the priority is to bring in a defensive midfielder and potentially some other valuable assets. However, in a recent turn of events, it would appear that a certain striker in the English Premier League could end up becoming a possible target for Barcelona given his unique circumstances.

According to SPORT, 24-year-old Uruguayan and Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez could end up becoming the newest name to join the agenda of Barcelona. This is because, at the moment, there seems to be a clear level of discontent for him with his club side in England.

After failing to be given any prominence in recent games, the Liverpool star has deleted all images of himself associated with the club from Merseyside from his Instagram. Beyond just an indication of not being satisfied, it would appear that the former SL Benfica star may end up being open to a move away from Liverpool.

That is exactly where Barcelona could come in and make a move. The only major issue here is that the Uruguayan striker may not come cheap, given that Liverpool spent close to €85 million for him. Moreover, with a contract in place until 2028, Barcelona would have to be cautious with the actual demands of the Reds.

On the contrary, leaks and reports from within England claim that Núñez would have a salary that would only be a quarter of what Barcelona ace Robert Lewandowski is expected to earn next season. The Polish striker, one of the most criticized players at Barcelona this season, could also consequently be put on the chopping block.

In terms of statistics, Núñez has not exactly been poor. Despite there being some widely popular remarks about his wayward finishing, the Uruguayan striker managed to find the back of the net on 15 occasions last season, and also provided 4 assists. This season, he has already scored 18 goals and has 13 assists to his name.
