The draws for the Copa del Rey Round of 32 of the 2023-24 edition were held today at the RFEF headquarters, and FC Barcelona have been pitted against UD Barbastro in this round of the tournament.

The Huesca-based team will stand as Barça’s opposition in a pivotal knockout fixture scheduled between January 6th and 7th, 2024.

UD Barbastro, currently competing in the fourth tier of Spanish football and led by coach Dani Martínez, secured victories in the previous rounds, stunning higher-tier teams such as Almería (1-0) from La Liga and Ponferradina (1-0) from the First RFEF.

Their commendable journey to this stage has set the stage for an exciting face-off against FC Barcelona. The announcement of this match-up generated palpable excitement within the Barbastro community, marking a significant moment for fans and spectators.

Despite initial speculations regarding a possible change in venue due to capacity constraints, the fixture is confirmed to take place at Estadio Municipal de Deportes.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Mayor Fernando Torres highlighted the necessity to expand the stadium’s capacity, aiming to accommodate up to 6,000 spectators by installing additional seating arrangements, doubling the current capacity of 3,000.

The Catalan giants will visit Estadio Municipal de Deportes in Barbastro for this tie before heading to Saudi Arabia to face CA Osasuna in the Semi-Final of the Spanish Super Cup.
