After overcoming Unionistas de Salamanca, FC Barcelona continue their journey in the Copa Del Ray. The record winners of the competition, La Blaugrana have always been among the favorites of the cup. However, up next in the quarter-finals, Barcelona will be tested to a great degree.

That is because no more teams apart from the first division are even left in the competition. The latest Barcelona game saw them dispose of Unionistas with a 3-1 scoreline, and a lot of individual brilliance is what pulled them through.

However, the same will likely not be the case in the next round. With only the very best left, Barcelona will need to be much more effective and efficient with their tactics as well. Now among the final eight, it is time to look at their possible opponents.

As highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona is now among the final eight left in the King’s Cup. Accordingly, there are seven possible opponents that Barcelona could now face in the upcoming last eight of the tournament.

Here are their possible opponents:

Sevilla (17th in La Liga):

The team from Seville is not exactly enjoying the best of seasons in La Liga. Currently, way down below in the standing at 17th, they will be extra motivated to perform well in the Copa Del Ray.

Atletico Madrid (5th in La Liga):

Arguably the team with the most confidence coming into the quarters, Atletico Madrid showed great quality in their last game. Eliminating local rivals Real Madrid, they are definitely now among the favorites in the domestic cup.

Girona (1st in La Liga):

Speaking of favorites, it quite possibly does not get any more dangerous than Girona as an opponent. Currently the leaders in La Liga, Michel’s side is one absolutely well-drilled force. Overcoming them could be a massive hurdle for Barcelona at the moment.

Real Sociedad (6th in La Liga):

Led by Imanol Alguacil, Real Sociedad is another formidable side from La Liga. Their way of playing is quite difficult to counter, and with their attacking influences, they are definitely one of the most dangerous opponents left in the Copa Del Ray.

Mallorca (14th in La Liga):

Another one of the low-positioned teams from La Liga left, they are another one of those teams most clubs would want as their draw. However, Mallorca have been enjoying better form as of late and would also be a tricky opponent.

Athletic Bilbao (3rd in La Liga):

A side that possesses dynamic players and often is a threat no matter what competition they are in. Athletic Bilbao would undoubtedly be a tough pick for any club that ends up being drawn against them.

Celta Vigo (16th in La Liga):

The lowest-placed team in La Liga that is left in the Copa Del Ray, they will be arguably everyone’s dream draw. However, no team in a knockout competition can be taken lightly. For Barcelona, even Celta would be an opponent to take seriously.
