Some unfinished business awaits FC Barcelona in the winter window

Like the previous few transfer windows, the upcoming winter transfer window is also expected to be a hectic affair for FC Barcelona’s management. Barca News Network brings you all the latest updates regarding the upcoming January transfer window.

While the club president Joan Laporta is aware that the club would not be able to make any new blockbuster signings, he still has work to do in the office, in which he is being assisted by Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff.

The most urgent matter that needs the attention of the Blaugrana board involves two of the Catalan club’s most valuable assets, i.e. Ronald Araujo and Pablo Paez Gavi. Both these players renewed their contracts with the club in 2022, but these renewed contracts have not yet been registered with La Liga because of financial fair play issues.

Barca News: In addition to these pending registrations, a number of other renewal cases also await the club management’s attention as per the recent reports from Relevo. Alejandro Balde has earned the trust of Xavi this season through his highly impressive performances but is still officially registered with the FC Barcelona B team.

However, his renewal is already guaranteed by his agent, Jorge Mendes, and is expected to be formally signed soon. Inaki Pena’s contract also expires at the end of this season, but he has reached a verbal agreement with the club, which only needs a formal signature.

Barca News: Lastly, Marcos Alonso is also in the list of players whose renewal is being targeted by the club this winter. Having arrived from Chelsea this past summer, his performances at the left and center of the defensive line have impressed Xavi, who wants him to be committed to the club on a longer basis.
