Irrespective of the era, FC Barcelona continues to nurture great talents within their subsidiary. The Catalan giants are known for producing elite youngsters, and that tradition remains strong even today. However, not every one of those talented youngsters manages to retain their place within Barcelona.
Oftentimes, either due to competition or better offers from elsewhere, a partition occurs between Barcelona and certain youngsters. Given their pedigree and expectations as one of Europe’s finest, it is a constant demand of Barça to perform.
As a consequence of this, young players do not always get the chance to flourish in the first team. Instead, they look towards other options where they can actually receive the opportunity to improve and develop.
One player whose rise within the subsidiary this season has been exceptional is Dani Rodriguez. The 18-year-old starlet is currently on the radar of several teams, but it is Spurs who are most intent on taking him away from Barcelona, according to SPORT at least.
His eruption hardly comes as a surprise though, given how talented the player is. Able to play both as a midfielder and as a left winger, there is a dynamic essence to his game that not many others can boast to possess.
For this reason, Tottenham Hotspur from the Premier League seem to be quite fond of him. Moreover, they would be open to offering the player and his entourage a potential financial package that would likely outweigh anything Barcelona can afford to put on the table at the moment given their own economic limitations.
Barcelona themselves are aware of this shortcoming, and will thus look to pursue Rodriguez differently. The only way in which the Catalan giants believe they can offer a solid proposal is through their sporting project, but even that raises doubts given the quality from both the first team and the subsidiary that is already waiting in line to get their opportunities.
However, SPORT reports that Barcelona are soon set to meet with the youngster’s agent again. Pini Zahavi, who just so happens to also represent Robert Lewandowski, will meet with the Catalan club soon.
Only then can a proper negotiation take place, as Barça’s contract efforts have been more focused on the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Marc Guiu, and Hector Fort as of late.
