FC Barcelona continue to house some of European football’s most talented starlets within their quarry. La Blaugrana are aware of this, and thus they continue to bet on their youngsters for the future. However, not every Barcelona starlet manages to reach the same heights as their peers.

This is not due to a lack of ability, per se, but more so the requirements of the first team and how well the timing of something favors them. Fermin Lopez, for instance, had to go away on loan with no hopes of possibly being in the Barcelona first team one day. Now, however, he is primarily a regular for Xavi Hernandez.

One player who does not seem to be getting the same treatment however is Marc Casado. As highlighted by Jordi Cardero, the captain of Barcelona Atletic continues to be respected to the utmost degree by almost everyone in the team’s youth divisions, but that has thus far not been replicated in the first team.

Despite having 34 call-ups to the first team under Xavi Hernandez, Casado is yet to make his La Liga debut. He has already featured sparingly in the UEFA Champions League, but mostly at points with nothing at stake. However, his commitment to his goal and to Barcelona is absolute, and all his peers seem to acknowledge that.

Highlighted by them as being the ‘Gavi of the subsidiary’ due to his great work rate and commitment, Casado is stated to be an example for the team both on and off the field.

A proper captain, his leadership and ability to always be there for his teammates have greatly improved his standing in the team. Moreover, it does not hurt that he is quite the versatile player as well.

Aleix Garrido, another one of Barça’s great talents, also has nothing but positive words for his subsidiary captain:

“It’s very easy to play with Marc. He is the typical player you always want in your team, whether it’s on the side, as the pivot, anywhere. He always does it with full commitment. It’s a privilege to have him here.”

While his subsidiary performances continue to impress and amaze, the player is ready for his next step as per the report. He wants to make it to the first team even though they state that there is still some room for improvement. However, Barcelona may need to be careful with this particular young starlet, as a number of clubs already have him on their agenda.

According to the same update, with his contract ending soon, teams like Granada, Valencia, and even Italian side Lazio are keeping an eye on him. It is now up to Barcelona to ensure his continuity in case they want to retain him. The player, for now, can continue to focus on turning up for Barcelona Atletic as their captain.
