Barcelona head into this upcoming week prepared to face off against Getafe for their first official La Liga game of the season at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez where they look to kick off on the 13th of August.
Heading into this clash, Barcelona expect to have most of their team available with even 19-year-old youngster Pablo Gavi also now available for selection as showcased by his participation during the Joan Gamper Trophy clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, some key defensive players that previously remained major doubts for the clash against Getafe may now be showing promise to be available as highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT. The two players in question are Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo and Danish defender Andreas Christensen.
Both players have however trained on an off-day for the squad as given by Barcelona coach Xavi, as they exercised alongside the company of Inigo Martinez, Eric Garcia, Pedri, and Fermin Lopez, and consequently do showcase good signs heading into the upcoming La Liga encounter.
Previously, Araujo was first taken off early in the clash against Tottenham Hotspur during the Joan Gamper Trophy as he felt some discomfort and as a result, had to be replaced by Sergi Roberto at the right-back position.
Christensen, on the other hand, was last withdrawn from the game against Real Madrid where he went down injured during the pre-season clash and was then replaced by Spanish defender Eric Garcia.
Even as both Eric Garcia and French central defender Jules Kounde remain indefinitely available options for Barcelona in terms of the upcoming clash, the presence of both the Uruguayan and Danish central defenders would undoubtedly boost the quality in defense for the Catalan giants.
