Successfully retaining the La Liga title will be a huge priority for Barcelona during the 2023/2024 campaign in the Spanish First Division. A title they won by absolute merit last season, a repeat of the same triumph is a significant objective for the Catalans yet again.
However, with each new campaign comes new challenges to address and overcome. The opening game that Barcelona played this time around took place at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez against a frustrating Getafe CF side. Ending in a goalless stalemate, Barcelona now look to improve moving forward with the upcoming clash against Cadiz.
One key piece that Barcelona will indefinitely be missing for that upcoming clash is Brazilian winger Raphinha, who was dismissed last time around against Getafe after having been shown the red card for an intentional elbow attack on an opposing player.
A major priority for the Barcelona coaching staff is to now look within the squad and find an adequate replacement for Raphinha to overcome his absence in the Cadiz clash up ahead.
While the most obvious choices to start in the Brazilian’s stead would be either of Ferran Torres or Ez Abde, Spanish journalist Santi Gimenez suggests through Diario AS the possibility of 16-year-old Lamine Yamal looking to start on the second Matchday for Barcelona.
Seeing the faith put in him during the game against Getafe, it would not be a wild possibility to expect suggests the report. As such, the 16-year-old could be given his first-ever start for the main team of Barcelona and it could be an opportunity that he could capitalize on if it materialises.
