FC Barcelona sent several young players out on loan this season in order to help them get important minutes in clubs with lesser pressure. One of these players whom the Catalans will be looking upon with significant interest is the youngster Pablo Torre.
The midfielder joined the La Liga side Girona on loan after one rather uneventful year at Barcelona. Torre understood that opportunities would be hard to come by in Xavi’s team, and decided to join Girona which offered an interesting project while also offering greater opportunities to get on the field.
However, the first half of the season saw Torre get on the field on very rare occasions. Michel did not count on him much, and his choice was justified by the form that his team showed with his first-choice midfielders.
But, as SPORT has noted, the Barcelona loanee is now getting increased chances under Michel and is almost a fixed starter for the joint leaders of La Liga.
Owing to his earlier lack of prominence in the team, Barcelona and Torre both were thinking of changing clubs in the winter. However, Girona believed in his talent, and their confidence in the player is now returning meaningful benefits, while Barcelona are also following him closely, and hoping that the player can continue growing.
If things keep on going as they are going now, Torre will return to Barcelona in the coming summer, and not go on another loan. He will get the opportunity to get a place for himself in the Barcelona first team. Xavi and the coaching staff believe the player is ready to make the jump, and can offer another interesting profile in the midfield.
Torre joined Barcelona as the former Sporting Director Jordi Cruyff made a bet on him when he was at Racing Santander. Barcelona always believed in his talent but knew they would have to take a patient approach with the player to let him grow and become a part of the first team.
