Numerous footballers dream of playing for FC Barcelona for some time in their careers, but only a few lucky ones get the chance to don the famous garnet and blue jersey.

However, not every one of these lucky few players is able to make a name for himself at the Catalan club, where the pressure to perform is as high as it gets in professional football.

One such player who got the opportunity to join the Blaugranes but was unable to make the maximum of this opportunity is the French defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Frenchman came to Barcelona in 2019 from Toulouse but was unable to get much game time and left the club on loan a year later. He played at Schalke and Benfica on loan, before permanently joining OGC Nice, where he is still playing.

Todibo growing at Nice

However, according to SPORT, his time at Nice may also be fast approaching an end. The defender had a season to remember with the French side last year, and his demand in the European market was very high throughout the last summer transfer window.

However, Nice were able to retain him, and he has contributed to helping the team avoid any loss this season and keeping the second spot in the table with nineteen points with his amazing size, strength, aerial abilities, and ability to play the ball from the back.

All these characteristics made him a highly sought-after player in the summer as well, and Manchester United were one of the clubs who wanted to get the defender.

He was valued at around €30 million in the last window, but his value has further increased since then. Nice also have much bargaining room, as he was renewed in 2021, and now has a contract till 2027 with the French club.

In addition to Nice, there is another club that can receive a windfall from a future move for Todibo, and that club is none other than FC Barcelona. The Catalans had kept a clause for a 20% share of any proceeds obtained from a future sale of the defender when they sold him, and Barcelona are likely to benefit from this clause in the coming winter.
