A new test awaits FC Barcelona in the form of a tough Valencia side at the Mestalla. The Catalan giants acknowledge the difficulty of the encounter and the subsequent risk of dropping crucial points. However, if there is a time for the Catalans to pick themselves up again, it is now.

However, the test against Valencia will surely need a better performance. One man who definitely knows what it is like to win against this particular opponent is Ferran Torres himself. The ‘shark’ has been gradually putting in the work this season, and he may reap the reward.

As highlighted by SPORT, Ferran Torres has tasted nothing but victory against his former side since joining Barcelona. Since turning into a Blaugrana, he saw victory in the first encounter during the 2021/22 season, one which Barcelona managed to win 4-1.

The second and third wins came in the 2022/23 season, both by very fine margins. One was won courtesy of a goal by Robert Lewandowski, and the other game by Raphinha’s goal. While he is yet to score against Valencia, he has done well enough to secure victory every single time.

In the ongoing campaign, Torres has already managed to score 6 goals. Three of those goals have come in La Liga, and another three in the UEFA Champions League. He is also currently the top scorer of Barcelona in the European competition, alongside Joao Felix.

Moreover, he has even added three assists to his tally across all competitions. His dynamic range of scoring and getting into dangerous positions makes him a strong forward, but he has improved his finishing as well this season.

The game against Valencia will see him fight it out against Lamine Yamal and Raphinha to start the match. Lewandowski and Joao Felix seem to have the other two positions guaranteed for themselves, but Torres has a great claim on being the starting right-winger against his former side.
