The UEFA Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Napoli is a golden opportunity for the Catalans to showcase the improvements they have made over the last two years.

The Catalans have already made gains as they progressed to the Round of 16 after being unable to do so for the last two years. But getting even further into the tournament will be a clear sign from the Catalans that they are ready to compete with the top sides in Europe once again.

Thus, this will be a special night for all the Barcelona players. However, one player who will be particularly looking ahead to the match tonight will be Lamine Yamal, who can etch his name in the history books if he scores a goal tonight.

As SPORT has noted, Ansu Fati is currently the youngest player to have scored in the Champions League, as he found the net when he was only 17 years and 40 days old. Lamine Yamal is not going to turn 17 years old till July, and thus will have a chance to make this record his own by getting on the scoresheet tonight.

The winger has become a key part of Xavi’s lineup this season and has already scored six goals and given seven assists up to now. However, goals have eluded him in the Champions League.

Yamal will still have the chance to make this record if Barcelona are able to progress through this round, even if the youngster is unable to score. As he still has some months before reaching 17 years of age, he will also have the opportunity to score a goal in the two legs of the quarter-finals.

However, Lamine will be gunning to make this record as soon as possible, to add further to his legend at Barcelona, which has already seen him being the youngest player to debut with the first team and being the club’s youngest goal-scorer. He is also the youngest player to play in the Champions League for Barcelona.
