One of the most exciting youngsters to have come out of FC Barcelona academy in the last few years, Ansu Fati, left the Catalan club on loan this summer to join Brighton and Hove Albion.

There were reports and rumors of an expected move for Ansu Fati throughout the summer. A proposed swap with Wolves was rejected by the player, and Tottenham were also reported to be highly interested in the player.

However, after trying his best to remain at Barcelona for a large part of the transfer window, Fati finally decided to join Brighton on the last days of the market.

Barcelona have a clear conscience

It is clear that the youngster himself wanted to remain and succeed at Barcelona. He has risen through the ranks at the Catalan club, and there were high hopes associated with him after he had a stunning breakthrough with the first team.

However, injuries and lack of form were not helping his career at Barcelona, and the club thought it was best for him to try another club.

A report from SPORT in this regard claims that the club officials are satisfied with their approach towards Fati and have a clear conscience. The sporting staff waited for months to monitor how the Spaniard was progressing at the club but could not see any significant signs of progress being made.

Fati stagnated at Barcelona

The youngster was unable to impress in the multiple opportunities afforded to him by Xavi, and was also not very impressive in training. Thus, the club finally made the decision to let the youngster try, if only for a season, outside of Barcelona.

Being only on loan at Brighton, there are very high chances that Fati and Barcelona would reunite in the coming years. However, staying at the club was not doing him any good, and with the emergence of other quality youngsters like Lamine Yamal, his position in the squad was expected to deteriorate even further.

Thus, Barcelona have a clear conscience regarding the youngster, and it can be argued that it was more for his own good than the club’s that he was pushed to play away from Barcelona. He has joined a very interesting project in a highly competitive league, and it remains to be seen how he fares in this new chapter of his career.
