FC Barcelona have been operating with a very limited margin in the last few transfer windows because of their undesirable financial conditions. While the club made some high-profile acquisitions this last summer, the Catalans had to do it without spending too much on them, and they were the lowest spenders this summer from all of their competitors in the UEFA Champions League.

The finances of the club have improved to some extent in the last few years, but this aspect still remains the biggest challenge for Barcelona right now. This will once again impact their planning for the next summer transfer window, as they will have to sell players in order to incorporate new ones because of the salary limits.

Barcelona want to sell Fati

With transfers being the only way that Barcelona can strengthen themselves once again next summer, the Catalans have already identified one player whom they will be looking to sell. According to SPORT, this player is Ansu Fati, whom the club will sell if a suitable offer arrives

Fati is currently playing on loan in the Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion, and had a tumultuous transfer window last summer. Barcelona made several attempts to offload him, firstly with Wolverhampton Wolves, whom Fati refused to join despite the operation being beneficial for the club. Ultimately, he decided to join Brighton during the final days of the transfer window.

Fati scored his first goal for Brighton yesterday, but he is not one of the starters for his new side yet. He can regain his form at Brighton, but Barcelona believe he will still have very few chances to succeed at Barcelona as the Catalans’ forward line is already filled to the brim, and Roque’s arrival in winter can further saturate this area of the team.

Several teams monitoring Fati

Thus, if he is able to get back to his best at Brighton, Barcelona will look to permanently sell him or use him in a swap deal for another player. Several Premier League clubs are monitoring his evolution at Brighton, and his age and Barcelona’s need to sell him make him a particularly attractive target for these sides.

Atletico Madrid have also shown an interest in the player in the past, and Barcelona can consider a swap for Felix at the end of the season, with Jorge Mendes, who represents both the players, heading the operation.
