The summer transfer window is well and truly on its way, and while it is still early days, FC Barcelona have begun to make advancements. A certain transfer target of theirs has just also reportedly rejected an enticing offer from a Premier League club.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, and 26-year-old Portuguese International Ruben Neves has just recently received an offer from fellow Premier League side Arsenal.
As per the report, the player has stalled any advancements regarding that specific offer as he continues to wait for the progressions of FC Barcelona themselves, a clear indication as to what his first preference remains.
The midfielder primarily plays as a central defensive midfielder and is expected by many reports to be on the list of potential replacements for the departing FC Barcelona captain and veteran Sergio Busquets.
While his style of play varies drastically from Busquets and the coaching staff at the club certainly don’t believe him to be the correct transfer in terms of Xavi’s preferences, Ruben Neves continues to be a real option courtesy of the relations between Joan Laporta and the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes.
Reports would suggest that the current idea is for Ruben Neves to be sent off to FC Barcelona alongside €30 million for which in exchange Ansu Fati would be on his way to Wolves.
This deal continues to have several issues as of right now, even apart from the reluctance of the coaching staff in regards to Neves. Ansu Fati remains hesitant about the prospect of joining Wolves, and stays adamant about his will to continue at FC Barcelona.
As of right now, the primary candidates to replace Sergio Busquets from the perspective of the coaching staff are Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi and Bayern Munich superstar Joshua Kimmich. Both remain stellar players and systematically believed to be much better options for Barcelona than that of Ruben Neves.
