Barcelona, Real Madrid target set to sign contract renewal with club – Romero

Despite winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup this season, FC Barcelona still have a number of weaknesses in their squad that they are looking to mitigate going into the coming seasons. One of these weaknesses is the club’s attack, whose output this season was lower than what was expected from it.

The team’s attack left a lot to be desired this season, and only Robert Lewandowski showed some consistency throughout the season. The other most potent attacker, Ousmane Dembele was out with injury for a significant part of the season, and the rest of the attackers were not entirely up to the mark.

Thus, the club is looking to bolster its attack by signing some offensive reinforcements during the coming years. One of the players that the club was interested in and monitoring for this purpose was the former Barcelona youth player, Dani Olmo.

Dani Olma has played with Barcelona youth teams before he moved to Dinamo Zagreb, and now plays in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. Having shown significant growth during the last few seasons, the player has been garnering interest from a number of major European clubs.

Two of these sides interested in the player were FC Barcelona and their rivals Real Madrid. FC Barcelona were aiming to get him as a free agent when his contract expired in the summer of 2024, and had already been in contact with him.

However, both these sides have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the player as Gerard Romero reports that the player is set to renew his contract and continue playing with RB Leipzig.

If this report is to be believed, then FC Barcelona would have to look for other attacking targets to bolster their attack in the coming years, as they will now have to play a transfer fee or release clause to get the player, and his value for Leipzig will also increase.
