As is the case most of the time, FC Barcelona will likely have to pay a price for the current international break in the form of physical problems and injuries to some of their players.
The Catalans already saw important players like Gavi and Marc Andre Ter Stegen develop problems while with their national team camps, due to which the former is out for the rest of the season, and the latter also had to miss several games.
As already reported, the French defender Jules Kounde was the latest Barcelona player to have suffered from a physical problem while on international duty with France. He had to leave the last match against Germany due to discomfort in the 61st minute, which was a source of great worry for the Catalan club.
However, Mundo Deportivo now reports that the same journalist who had initially claimed an injury to the defender, now clarifies that the player does not have a sprain, and the problem arose only because of a hard blow which was treated with ice.
Thus, while a detailed medical report may change things, Kounde is not expected to leave his national team camp at the moment with this problem and is likely to be available for Didier Deschamps for the upcoming match against Chile on Tuesday.
This will also be good news for Xavi Hernandez, who will be able to count on the French defender for the upcoming stretch of decisive matches, both in the Champions League and La Liga.
He will be particularly needed in the upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie against Paris Saint Germain, as Barcelona will have to face the threat of Kylian Mbappe in that match.
Hopefully, FC Barcelona can get past the rest of the international break without losing any more of their players to injuries, so Xavi can have his best personnel available to end the season on a good note.
