The FC Barcelona team participated in their last training session before the Mallorca game on Thursday, and there were several players conspicuous by their absence from this group.
Both Pedri and Frenkie de Jong were absent from this group training, as both midfielders had suffered injuries in the last game against Athletic Club. Both of them are expected to miss the upcoming game against Napoli as well.
Furthermore, as SPORT has reported, another player who was previously expected to take part in this training session but was unable to do so is the Barcelona winger, Ferran Torres. The 24-year-old Spaniard could not receive the green light to train for this match and is also a doubt for the UEFA Champions League clash against Napoli.
On the other hand, veteran defender, Marcos Alonso, who had also trained with the rest of the team yesterday, also participated in this training session and is expected to get a medical discharge to make an appearance in the La Liga match against RCD Mallorca.
There was another player who is not going to be a part of the squad for the game against Mallorca, but trained with the team in this session, i.e., Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan defender received a booking in the last match and is suspended for this La Liga game, along with Xavi himself. However, he will be available for the upcoming match against Napoli.
Even with all these injuries and suspensions, Xavi will have to get a result in this upcoming game to keep his team within a chance of winning the league title. The team currently trails Girona by a single point, and a win against Mallorca can give the Catalans the chance to occupy the second place by the end of this week.
