With the 2022-23 season over, FC Barcelona now has to turn all their attention towards building the squad for the upcoming seasons. In addition to bringing in new players, another task that the club has to undertake in this aspect is to register the pending renewal cases of some of their current players.
Gavi is one of the players that the club believes would be an integral part of the FC Barcelona squad for years to come and are trying to get him registered with La Liga with a senior-level contract, which the player and the club have already agreed on and signed.
However, the only problem is La Liga’s reluctance to recognize the contract agreement between the two parties, as they believe FC Barcelona would be going beyond their FFP limits if Gavi’s contract is registered.
The issue between La Liga and FC Barcelona also went to court, with the first ruling allowing the contract registration, while La Liga’s appeal again resulted in Gavi not being registered with La Liga.
However, the latest updates from Victor Navarro of COPE and ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano mention that Gavi has been registered as a first-team player today. Previously, La Liga’s appeal had been accepted because it was believed that Barcelona had filed its claim for Gavi’s registration after the deadline had already passed.
Now, The Court of Barcelona understands that the claim was filed within the stipulated time period, and has thus allowed the registration.
Thus, with Gavi’s new contract having been registered with La Liga, FC Barcelona have met one of their main objectives for the transfer window. Now, Gavi will go back to wearing the number 6 once again, and FC Barcelona fans can rest assured that the club’s prized asset will remain with the club and help them regain their glory in Spain and Europe.
