The end of the Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele saga is upon us, as French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly finalized the deal for the French winger and he is on his way to Paris already.

The lingering issue with this departure, apart from the obvious sporting and economic concerns, is the reasoning behind why an apparently happy Dembele has decided to part ways with Barcelona.

In light of Xavi’s favorable treatment towards him and the player’s increasingly improved form, the sudden departure seemed quite untimely. However, as per Spanish outlet SPORT, Dembele’s entourage has provided justification as to why the Frenchman has decided to leave Barcelona.

1: Distrust from January 2022

The player’s entourage claims that the 26-year-old winger has held a sour taste in his mouth since Barcelona decided to exclude him from their various sporting activities when the last negotiations took place in the winter window of 2022.

As a result, acknowledging that such an act could be repeated yet again to ensure his signature, the player felt uneasy during the negotiation process this time around as well.

2: The alleged Mbappe barter

As some reports suggested, Ousmane Dembele and Pablo Gavi had allegedly been offered to PSG in a swap deal of sorts for Kylian Mbappe.

Taking offense to such a possibility, the player’s distrust towards the club grew as he believed it to be an act of a lack of veiled distrust in the player’s abilities despite several sources suggesting it was a fake rumor.

3: Deco’s arrival

The new Sporting Director of Barcelona has already arrived and is an active part of many ongoing operations, even the one that took place with Arda Guler. Dembele and his entourage, however, felt that the Deco’s absence during negotiations for his renewal and his inability to present himself to the staff either created a sort of unfavorable viewing of his arrival from the player’s perspective.

4: Concerns with Barcelona higher-ups

The player’s concern regarding the higher-ups at Barcelona was also another major reason behind his decision to leave the Catalan club this summer.

Believing them to be capable of utilizing methods like excluding him from activities to be a route that they would be likely to take again should the negotiations take longer than otherwise expected, he wished to play in an environment where scrutiny from the club’s own heads would not hover upon him.
