It is the goal of Barcelona to reinforce themselves as best as they can for the future. Despite their economic hurdles, the club continues to target the most talented youngsters they can find. However, irrespective of age or attention, signing anyone at all is problematic for Barcelona.
Yet, they have kept their scouts and transfer hunting on high alert. Through this latest set of information, they have identified a certain youngster from Sweden as being worth their time and investment. Lucas Bergvall, a Swedish midfielder, has caught the eye of Barcelona and the Catalans seem quite keen on him.
However, the 17-year-old has not only attracted Barcelona it seems. Eintracht Frankfurt were already reportedly after his signature, and their current offer of €8.5 million exceeds that of Barça’s. The newest update, however, claims that they are not the only ones.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Italian giants Juventus have now also entered the same race. For the Italians, the idea of potentially getting to sign Lucas Bergvall sounds like a great opportunity. However, this only spells even more trouble for Barcelona in their quest for the Swede.
Currently contracted to the Swedish side Djurgardens, his contract with them runs until 2025. However, given his excellent technical abilities and physical prowess, coupled with his great maturity despite his age, he has become one of the most intensely followed names in European football.
The player himself remains open-minded about his future, despite all the attention, however:
“I know there’s a lot of speculation, but I’m trying to focus on the national team, and I’m happy to be here for the January return. Now I’m a Djurgarden player. It’s a pride that my club demands so much money. But Djurgarden and my agents will take care of this. I don’t know where I’ll be playing next season.”
Ultimately, there is a strong belief that beyond this season, he will be with a much bigger European side. However, at least for Barcelona, the hope remains that he ends up coming to Catalonia under the right circumstances.
