The summer transfer window is in full flow, and FC Barcelona have a number of operations on their hands to complete before its conclusion. One of the tasks for the club in this period was to find another club for Nico Gonzalez, and the latest reports indicate that Barcelona have reached an agreement with Porto for his transfer.
However, according to SPORT, Nico Gonzalez is not the only Barcelona player that is of interest to Porto. The Portuguese club has set its sights on another Blaugrane player, that is not going to be used much by Xavi in the upcoming season, Julian Araujo.
The Mexican defender joined FC Barcelona in the last winter transfer window from the MLS, but he could not play a single minute for the Catalan club as he could not be registered in time. While the player trained at the Camp Nou facilities in the second half of last season, he has not yet reported back to Barcelona after winning the Concacaf Gold Cup with Mexico four days ago.
Here, the fullback is expecting to get some opportunities from Xavi to showcase his talent and hopefully get a role in the squad for the upcoming season. However, Xavi does not plan to give him many minutes in the upcoming season and sees him as a project for the future who currently needs to get acclimatized with the European game.
Thus, Barcelona are open to listening to any offers for him. The player had a number of offers in recent weeks to leave on loan, with Feyenoord and Las Palmas also being interested, but none of these offers have materialized for now.
Now, Porto have also entered the talks for his signing, and the Catalan club would be hoping for this transfer to go through. The Portuguese club would be a good platform for Araujo to develop further and get accustomed to the European game, as he will get to play in the Champions League as well as in one of the highly competitive domestic leagues in Europe.
