The game against Girona was supposed to be a turning point for Barcelona. The Catalan giants knew what was at stake and what they could get out of that game. However, after the game, it was more than just Xavi’s Barcelona players who were left disappointed with the result.

In fact, while the returning faith of the players is taken for granted, there are others that will be harder to convince. The fans, for instance, are the beating heart of any club. However, unfortunately for FC Barcelona, their fans seem to be gradually losing more and more faith in the team.

As highlighted by SPORT, the most worrying signs in terms of that lost faith came during the game against Girona. Even as Barcelona were trailing 3-1, there were almost close to ten minutes left to play for the Blaugrana. However, the fans could not care less.

Images and videos showed a significant portion of the fans leaving the stadium. A clear sign of their lack of faith in a possible comeback against Girona’s formidable structure. However, this was also the chance for Xavi’s side to showcase their resolve to deliver to these Barcelona fans.

This was because the fans themselves showcased support beyond what was expected. In the last game against Atletico Madrid at the Montjuic Stadium, close to 34000 people showed up for Barça.

That was already worrying, and given the bad schedule and weather for the game against Girona, Barcelona expected even less to potentially make an appearance.

However, the Barcelona fans responded extremely positively. 42,000 fans of La Blaugrana were seen at the Montjuic Stadium, and this was the chance for Xavi’s Barcelona to repay their support. Ultimately, that was not to be the case in the slightest.

From here onwards, it is definitely an uphill task for FC Barcelona. The coaches and players need to step up and turn around their season. However, things are looking down, and only the team itself can make them right again.
