Barcelona are currently going through a storm of injuries that are hurting them in many ways. Almost without pause, the Catalan giants are losing key star after key star to spontaneous injuries that are ruling them out for important clashes up ahead with the extensive recovery dates.
As of right now, Barcelona currently have to deal with injuries to the likes of Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and the latest entry of Jules Kounde. Several of these stars have been injured for quite a while at this point while others have just recently joined the list.
One of the most crucial matches up ahead for Barcelona after the ongoing International break will be the El Clasico against Real Madrid. Set to take place at the Montjuic Stadium on the 28th of October, Barcelona were expected to face Los Blancos with their severely depleted squad.
Key stars returning
However, good news has come in the form of a report by Ferran Correas of SPORT. As per the journalist, FC Barcelona expects to have three key players available for the clash against Real Madrid as they believe they will recover before the game on the 28th of October.
The players in contention to return are 20-year-old Pedri, Polish talisman Robert Lewandowski and Brazilian winger Raphinha. From among these three, the player that is expected to return the soonest is former Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy winner Pedri.
Pedri
According to the update provided, Pedri looks the closest to returning and could end up receiving the medical green light right after the international break concludes. This would mean that Barcelona may have the services of the young Canary Islander available for the clashes against both Athletic Bilbao and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League before El Clasico comes around.
Lewandowski and Raphinha
Following Pedri’s return, Barcelona are then expected to welcome back both Raphinha and Lewandowski in time for El Clasico. The 35-year-old Polish striker was injured in the recent Champions League clash against Porto and ended up with an ankle problem while Raphinha himself had a muscle injury during the clash against Sevilla in La Liga.
De Jong out for longer
In the scenario that all three are able to make a comeback before El Clasico, Barcelona would welcome the great news with eagerness. However, Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong still seems a long way from returning and his return to first-team action may take a while.
