In what has been a promising summer transfer window for FC Barcelona thus far, it seems that it could potentially reach even greater heights if Blaugranes are able to tie down some of their most valuable assets for longer durations.
The contract situations of several players such as Ronald Araujo, and Pablo Gavi alongside others have already been sorted and finalized, with even registrations of said contracts being on favourable pace. However, there is one particular player whose contract situation Barcelona hope to wrap up soon as well.
According to details provided by Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are in accelerated talks to complete the renewal negotiations with French winger Ousmane Dembele, who has fully committed himself to continuing with La Blaugrana moving forward.
Going as far back as May, prior to pre-season training, Dembele even publicly confirmed a renewal proposal came from Barcelona that would see him renew until 2027, stating: “Barça wants to renew me until 2027 and my agent is talking to them. I am happy here and I want to continue”.
The 26-year-old winger also showed this commitment to Barcelona and proved his allegiance to the club and his words by rejecting a recent proposal by Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, as per several reports.
The proposal in question was one that offered Dembele an alleged financial package worth €200 million over the course of 5 years with the Middle Eastern club, yet despite the exorbitant offer the player chose to reject it and instead focuses on his future under the tutelage of Xavi Hernandez at Barcelona.
Given his determination to reject even a proposal worth so much in financial value, it appears that Dembele will not be distracted from his commitment to Barcelona, with the Catalan club now being his utmost priority to renew with as negotiations excel at the right speed, as per the report.
