The FC Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has really made himself known to everyone with his performances in the last few weeks. The youngster has grown from the relative obscurity of the Barcelona youth ranks to put in some of the most compelling defensive performances at the highest level in these last few matches.

Getting to stardom in such a short period of time, and adapting to the requirements of the first team is never easy for any youngster. However, as SPORT has reported, the defender shared in an interview the two first-team players who have helped him the most in this regard:

“They have all helped me because we are a great group and a great team, but especially Ronald [Araujo]. He always helps me tactically and personally in the locker room. And also Joao Cancelo, who is one of the funniest in the team, always brings joy.”

Talking about how he is coping with the pressure of playing for the senior team, the defender disclosed: “Right now, with a lot of tranquility. Family and friends help me stay grounded, which is fundamental. For now, with tranquility.”

Still, the defender admitted it was not easy playing for the first team of a club as big as Barcelona, especially at his age:

“When you’re a player at Barça, you always have that extra pressure because wearing this badge and this shirt is one of the most important things in the world.”

“We play with pressure, but this pressure makes us better players, and we show it. I don’t think about my age. I think that I’m just a player who can help the team, and I try to give my all and help the team.”

The player could not believe it when he was awarded the MVP award for the match against Napoli:

“I thought they were joking with me a little, pulling my leg, but when I received it, I was very proud of the work of the entire team. Because it’s a trophy they give to me, but it’s for the whole team.”

“Things are going well for me, but there are always things to improve. In training, I always give one hundred percent to improve everything I need to become a better player. And I always try to give it my all.”

Lastly, Cubarsi was also very happy to have been praised by the Barcelona head coach and legendary midfielder: “To hear it from the coach, who was also one of the best players in history, I feel it’s a privilege. I’m very happy for the trust. He helps us to the maximum and treats us as one more of the team.”

There is no doubt about Cubarsi’s talent left after his displays in the last few matches. But Barcelona fans would hope to see more of the same from him in the coming weeks and months, especially as the season enters its decisive phase, and the Catalans have two trophies to fight for.
