Barcelona dodge a bullet as Dani Olmo’s medical tests come back with an answer

Following a rather inactive transfer window for FC Barcelona, the club had little to nothing to show in the name of transfers. Ultimately, only two players were permanently signed and both were forwards. One was a young player who excelled for Barcelona Atletic on loan last season and the other was a former La Masia talent.

The first was Girona’s Pau Victor and he earned his right to stay, even though his transfer fee itself was not too much of a hassle to pay either. In case of the second transfer, however, Barcelona had to pay a sizeable transfer fee to ensure the arrival of RB Leipzig star and former La Masia talent Dani Olmo.

While it did take some time to get him registered and available for Hansi Flick, Olmo has started off his Barça campaign in great style. However, the latest news came to suggest that he had been potentially injured while being on international duty as Spain coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed that the player had suffered a hard knock against Serbia.

As a result, medical tests had to be conducted to confirm if the player did suffer from an injury or not. Given that he looks set to miss the game against Switzerland as a consequence, many believed that the knock could be a problematic one and would be worrying for Barcelona.

Fortunately, however, the Catalan giants have managed to dodge a bullet it seems. According to Mundo Deportivo, the tests have now been concluded and they have confirmed that the player suffers from no kind of injury of any sort and that it was indeed just a strong knock that seems to be bothering the player.

As a precaution, however, he will likely not be playing against Switzerland and perhaps it is for the better. Lamine Yamal is already being overextended by the Spanish coach and Luis de la Fuente does not look to stop doing that any time soon given his recent words regarding the matter.

For Dani Olmo, however, missing one game may be beneficial as he gets some extra rest and can fully recover from the knock he took. In around a week from now, he will be needed by Hansi Flick once again as La Blaugrana set their sights on the upcoming test against Michel’s Girona following the conclusion of the international break.
