Along with bringing reinforcements to their first team, FC Barcelona are also always attentive to any rising youngsters whom they can bring to their youth teams with an eye on developing them into future top-class players.
In this regard, one of the most prominent pieces of business undertaken in the last summer transfer window was the incorporation of Noah Darvich from Freiburg, who has also starred in and won the recently concluded U-17 FIFA World Cup with Germany.
However, there is another German player who can join Darvich in the Barcelona youth teams in the coming months. The player in question is Almugera Kabar, the left-back currently owned by Borussia Dortmund.
SPORT reports that the negotiations for this player are already well advanced, but there are some doubts in the player’s mind that have kept the operation from being finalized for now.
Kabar is one of the most prominent players in Dortmund’s youth academy and has already been called up several times to train with the first team. His strength helps him stand out against his peers in the left-back position, and he can also play well on both wings, especially on the left.
Barcelona scouts had been keeping an eye on the youngster for some months, and the first contacts for his signing took place in the summer. Now, after the conclusion of the U-17 World Cup, Barcelona are looking to complete his signing. He has a contract with Dortmund till 2025 but will be allowed to leave for a minimal transfer fee.
The one significant barrier to the completion of this transfer is that the player is already demanding a certain degree of prominence in the Barcelona first team. He has asked for a pre-season with the first team and to train regularly with Xavi’s men throughout the season. Dortmund have already offered him a promotion to the first team to keep him.
