Despite the progress made in the last two years, FC Barcelona are still facing problems with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play rules. This has kept Barcelona from registering all their player with La Liga, as three important players for Barcelona are still to be registered despite the club having played the first two games of the competition this season.

It is clear that Barcelona need to offload players to lower their wage bill, which would then allow them to register some of these unregistered players and other players who are close to a move to the Catalan capital. Furthermore, cash income can also be helpful in this regard, and the club can receive some funds from an unlikely source in the coming days.

Todibo nearing a move to Manchester United

Jean-Claire Todibo is one of the players that Barcelona have a right over, despite him playing at a different club. The Frenchman has been playing at Nice for the last two and a half years and has been performing at a high level. Now, this summer, he is likely to take on another adventure in his career by moving to the Premier League side, Manchester United.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Manchester United are willing to pay up to €30 million for the defender, and Barcelona have a 20% right over any proceeds from Todibo’s sale. Thus, if Manchester United does end up paying this amount, Barcelona will get €6 million, which can go a long way in mitigating the club’s problems with FFP.

Todibo shining in the last few years

Todibo was one of the players that Barcelona bought some years ago with huge promise. The Catalans bought the defender when he was still 20 years old in 2020, but for various reasons, the player was unable to realize his potential with the Catalans.

As a result, he was loaned out first to Schalke, and then to Benfica, before being sent on another loan to Nice. After a half-year loan, the defender was bought permanently by the French side for €8.5 million fixed fee and another €7 million in variables. Barcelona also retained a 20% right over the player, which is likely to come in handy for the Catalan club this summer.
