Being one of the biggest clubs in the world, the FC Barcelona players are always under close scrutiny of the fans, and there is always a barrage of criticism whenever the team falls to a painful defeat.
This was also the case when Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in the last El Clasico, with Jude Bellingham scoring the winning goal for the Merengues in injury time.
One of the players who got his work ethic and private life questioned after that defeat was the midfielder Pedri, was has only returned from an injury a few days ago. As SPORT has reported, a social media user raised some questions about the player’s performance and his lifestyle, to which Pedri’s brother gave a forceful reply.
Pedri’s brother, Fernando, highlighted that while the midfielder’s style on the pitch can be questioned, no one should criticize his lifestyle away from the pitch:
“Let me tell you, what are we doing? You have to be a clown, you may like my brother’s sports career more or less, but questioning his work and commitment is ignorant and shows you don’t know us at all. You’re a complete idiot and a liar.”
Further reacting to the blame for unhealthy activities, Fernando said:
“First, if we went out, we’re at the age for it, we’re young haha, and above all, we’re human beings!! And second, of course, we do things, we usually stick to the diet, watch football, brush our teeth, and sleep, maybe this is what you meant…”
“Even though now all there are are sticks and criticism, I am the one who knows my brother the most. I am sure that with his work and sacrifice, life will put him where he deserves to be. It’s just a matter of time.”
Pedri has been struggling with injuries for a significant part of his career and that might have been a factor for his below-par performance against Real Madrid, as he had only just returned from an injury.
However, as Fernando highlighted, there is nothing to indicate that he is careless about his physique in his daily life, and hopefully, his commitment and drive will help him overcome this problem in the coming months and years.
