FC Barcelona is a club known for possessing players with the quality and ability of becoming record-breakers. In fact, many of today’s elite youngsters and rising stars have emerged from the La Masia academy. However, some Barcelona prodigies undoubtedly showcase an ability to take things even further.

One such prodigy is none other than 16-year-old winger Lamine Yamal. Crafted and developed in the forge of La Masia and the Barcelona youth ranks, the dazzling winger is already one of football’s hottest properties. Moreover, his contribution against Osasuna in his latest appearance only adds to that valuation.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Yamal continues his record-breaking streak against Osasuna. This time around, he becomes the youngest-ever debutant and goalscorer in the history of the Spanish Super Cup. A record that, aged just 16 years and 182 days, becomes only his after overtaking fellow Barça gem Gavi.

History was already made for the young Spaniard in the first half. Following Raphinha’s unfortunate injury, he was replaced by Yamal in the 42nd minute. As a result, the 16-year-old became the youngest debutant in the history of the competition.

The goal-scoring record, however, made Yamal wait and fight for it. Once it came, the entire complexion of the game was already in Barça’s favor. In additional time, beyond the 90th-minute mark, Joao Felix went on a mesmerizing individual run. Nutmegging opponents, playing sensationial one-twos with his teammates, the Portuguese forward made it to Osasuna’s goal.

However, instead of being selfish, he opened himself up and threw a pass in Yamal’s direction. Without hesitation, the 16-year-old obliged and faked a shot with his right and moved the ball onto his preferred left foot. Releasing a well-placed shot, Yamal ended up scoring the second goal for Barcelona despite Osasuna’s best attempts to stop it.

Prior to this game and historic goal, Yamal was already a big history maker. Having previously become both the youngest goalscorer in La Liga and for the Spanish National team, this just becomes the latest addition to his already surreal list of accomplishments.
