One of the players that FC Barcelona have long been pursuing and trying to get is the Portuguese midfielder, Bernardo Silva. The Manchester City star has been linked with the Catalan side for several years now, but a move has not yet been finalized.
The Blaugranes made a committed effort to sign Silva two years ago, but their economic condition kept them from completing the operation. Frenkie de Jong was put on the market by Barcelona at that time, and if his move to Manchester United had materialized, the Catalans would have gotten David Silva.
However, the Blaugranes have not cooled their interest in the player despite this lack of success. According to SPORT, the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has confirmed in a recent interview in Portugal that Barcelona are still interested in the player, and his signing might also be viable for the Catalans this time around.
Deco and his staff understand that the player himself wants to leave the Premier League side. Last summer, he was valued at around €65 million by Manchester City, a sum that was impossible for Barcelona to pay. Now, the midfielder is valued at €50 million.
Bernardo Silva has given his all for the club during his time at Manchester City, and the Premier League champions will not put up any resistance if the player wants to move but will want suitable monetary compensation to part with one of the most important cogs of Pep Guardiola’s system.
While they are clearly interested in Silva, Barcelona will have to undertake significant work before being able to land him. The sale of Barca Studios is essential to return the club to the 1-1 rule regarding their wage structure, and the club also understands that they will have to sell at least two players to finance star purchases.
