The squad list for El Clasico is a hot topic on the minds of many Barcelona fans right now. The Blaugranes patiently await to see which of their injured stars may be able to make the final selection. While that remains the main talking point, there is another aspect of the selection that is also quite interesting.
Recent reports and visual evidence have shown that several previously sidelined players are currently taking part in Barça’s group training. Robert Lewandowski, Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde are all participating in the first team training. However, this ends up putting forward an entirely different question as well.
Young stars
The concern of which subsidiary players may end up getting called into action for El Clasico is also a major topic. According to SPORT, many of the call-ups will depend on the condition of the first-team players. With Barcelona hoping to recover key first-team players for Real Madrid, their evolution and recovery will determine the chances for the youth.
Fateful training
Prior to the hotly anticipated clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona, a group training was scheduled. The training session included the previously injured stars and four players from the subsidiary.
Xavi called upon Marc Guiu, Marc Casado, Aleix Garrido, and Hector Fort prior to the big Spanish classic. Given Lewandowski’s chances of featuring getting significantly better, it may come at the expense of a certain young striker.
Marc Guiu, the latest 17-year-old La Masia hero, could be the youngster who ends up not making the cut. However, his chances still mainly depend on just how well Lewandowski is able to showcase his fitness to the coaches.
De Jong’s arrival
The case of the two midfielders, Casado and Garrido, also relies heavily on another recovering star. In the scenario that Frenkie De Jong is able to come back into the squad for Madrid as well, one of the two subsidiary youngsters will have to be left behind.
Hector Fort remains a guarantee according to SPORT. The young fullback will be utilized as a backup option to Joao Cancelo. In light of Sergi Roberto’s absence, Fort will be the primary candidate to provide depth to the right-back position behind the Portuguese star.
