The saga that raged on between FC Barcelona and French winger Ousmane Dembele for quite some time finally reached its conclusion not too long ago in an agreement that the Catalan club look favorably upon in terms of the division of the transfer fee paid by Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.
Originally, the representatives of Ousmane Dembele claimed that 50% of the transfer fee that PSG would be paying for Dembele would go to the player and his representatives as a consequence of the private clause added in his Barcelona contract that the concerned party ended up triggering.
However, following a dispute between the two parties and Barcelona providing their own evidence of Dembele failing to meet the criteria that would allow the said clause to be triggered, Barcelona ended up taking away €35.4 million rather than €25 million out of the €50.4 million that PSG paid in total for the 26-year-old winger.
Moving forward now, it appears that Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko continues to have other problems with the amount of compensation that Dembele has received with his concluding salary, and as highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, he blames the inability of the player to meet the criteria for a particular bonus on FC Barcelona themselves.
The criteria in question is reportedly the agreement that the French winger would have to compete in at least 60% of the games last season with a minimum number of minutes that must be played within those games.
The agent consequently highlights the clash against Girona that took place last season in January, which saw Dembele be taken off the field within the first 30 minutes due to injury, as the primary reason that Barca’s argument stands in accordance to the criteria not having been met.
Moreover, he shifts the blame onto FC Barcelona saying that his player was not provided the leg warmers prior to the game for the pre-match warmup and that was the reason that the Frenchman was unable to continue beyond the 28th-minute mark in that game as he got injured.
As a result, the agent asked Barcelona to include the games missed due to that injury within that criteria so that the eligibility for the bonus fee could be assured. However, the Catalan giants stood their own ground and thus ended up making their point over said criteria and refuse to give up more than the player has rightfully earned as per the agreement.
