The privilege of getting to play for a top European side like FC Barcelona is a dream that lures many and entices others. At the same time, the world of football can also be harsh and unforgiving, and at times dreams must be abandoned to pursue other objectives.
So has been the case when it comes to the arrival of the Saudi Arabian sides within the European market. Greats of the game that once used to lift the famous “Big Eared” trophy now head on their new paths to the Middle East where they have been promised luxury beyond compare.
As per the latest revelation from Mundo Deportivo, similar is the case of an offer presented to Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian at this moment in time is Barcelona and Xavi’s preferred candidate to fill the void left by the departure of Sergio Busquets, who has made his own way to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
Inter Milan, on the other hand, are speculated to be in a rush of sorts to offload the 30-year-old Brozovic in order to bring in a quick injection of funds so that they can finance their own current transfer target, Davide Frattesi of Sassuolo, for whom the Milan based side require €40 million to bring him to them.
With a contract in place till 2026, Inter have set down an asking price of €25 million for Marcelo Brozovic’s services should any club be interested. While the price is currently still in a negotiation phase, the final decision will remain in the hands of the player between the two main options of FC Barcelona or a new adventure outside the continent.
Stylistically different to Sergio Busquets, the primary reasoning behind Barcelona’s admiration of the Croatian star is his quality as a footballer and the experience to back it up. In order to properly compete next season, Barcelona believe a new holding midfielder is absolutely necessary, and for now, Brozovic remains the chosen one.
