As FC Barcelona enter into the most decisive phase of the season, one of the most important players for them in the coming weeks and months will be the veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Pole is one of the most celebrated strikers in Europe, and his experience of playing at the highest level makes him one of the most important members of the Barcelona squad.
Similarly, he is the automatic starter at the center-forward position at the Catalan club, and his goals will be key for Xavi’s team in both La Liga and the Champions League. The striker has the ambition to play at the highest level and will thus be ready for the challenges coming ahead.
At 35 years of age, the Pole has played a significantly high amount of games with Barcelona, 39, and if his international matches are also counted, his game tally reaches up to 43, with some months still remaining in the season.
However, as SPORT has noted, there is no respite in sight for the striker, as he is the only Barcelona player who will have to play in official and high-stakes matches in the current international break.
Poland is yet to qualify for the EURO 2024, and missing out on this top competition is not something that Lewandowski would be particularly looking up to. Thus, both him and his national team will be looking to play him in the two upcoming matches.
The first of these matches is to be played against Estonia, which should be a manageable rival for Poland, but the Poles have not been able to get results against even such inferior sides. If they are able to get past Estonia, Poland will face either Wales or Finland in the final match of the qualifiers.
Thus, Poland will be looking to fully exert themselves in these matches to get the ticket to the big event this summer, but this is not the best news for Xavi, who would want to have the Polish striker fresh for the upcoming decisive stretch of the season.
