As the current season is highly likely to end without any silverware for FC Barcelona, and with their already highly strained finances, the Catalans will be looking to sell a significant number of their players in the upcoming summer transfer window.

There are some youngsters who are playing at a very high level despite their youth, and these players are the only ones that the Catalans are looking to retain for their next sporting project. Other than these players, Barcelona do not consider anyone absolutely essential to the team.

Thus, according to a report from SPORT, there are only five players who are being considered as untouchables at the Catalan club. These players include, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, Pedri, and Mikayil Faye. Four of these players are already established first-team stars, while the fifth has already been told that he will have a first-team number next season.

Barcelona have already told the entourages of these players that they are not for sale, and will be quick to close any door to a possible departure. Furthermore, the club will look to sign long-term contracts with these players to protect them from possible outside interest, and breakthroughs in this regard are expected before the end of the season.

In fact, the Catalans are already well advanced in their negotiations for the renewals of Pedri and Cubarsi. The club is considering the latter’s renewal to be one of particular priority as his current contract goes only till 2026, and has only a €10 million release clause. However, the two parties are fully willing to arrive at an agreement.

Barcelona also want to reward Pedri for his high level of football with a new contract that will go till 2028 at the least. Talks for Gavi’s renewal are going more slowly, especially keeping in view his serious injury.

However, the Catalans have already informed him that they want to offer him a renewal, and the player himself is also fully committed to Barcelona.

For Lamine Yamal, Barcelona, and the player already have an agreement which will be activated once he turns 18 years old and which will keep the player at the Catalan club till 2030.

Lastly, Mikayil Faye will also be awarded with a first-team contract, especially to protect him from the interest that he is receiving from clubs across Europe. Barcelona are convinced he will be an important asset for them in the future.
