The future of Barcelona will undoubtedly rely a lot on their prodigious youngsters. Many names already playing for the first team have even cemented their place as regulars. The likes of Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Cubarsi are just a few who Barcelona will depend on for years to come.
However, they are not the first and they will most likely not be the last. Even before many of them came to play for the first team, there was another name who was expected to become the next big thing at Barcelona. That name was Ansu Fati, and his reality now lies with Brighton rather than Barcelona.
With the club not expected to call him back to Barcelona after his less-than-ideal season so far at Brighton, his time at the English club is expected to end soon as well. As per reports, Brighton are not willing to extend his stay in England any longer either.
As a result, Barcelona is already working on finding a new home for the young Spaniard. According to SPORT, there are two primary destinations in Spain that could serve as his new home. The two clubs in question are reportedly his former home Sevilla and fellow La Liga side Valencia.
Although the report also states that his agent, Jorge Mendes, could use his Portuguese ties to open up a place for him at English side Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fati’s preference remains to return to Spain. Over there, the option of Sevilla may be one that he is not completely opposed to.
For now, it seems that the possibility of returning to Barcelona or staying with Brighton are both the least likely options. Neither club believes he may have a prominent future with them, and it is for that reason that his agent is already working with Barcelona to find him a club to start a new chapter with.
However, Barcelona are aware that they will need to continue helping with his salary. Neither Sevilla nor Valencia are reportedly willing to pay the entirety of his file, and that is why Barcelona will need to continue paying a part of it.
At the moment, he continues to struggle for minutes at Brighton, and even head coach Roberto de Zerbi is not exactly showcasing a lot of confidence in him.
