It is true that FC Barcelona have not found the best of consistency this season across the board. While they have seemingly found their best version as of late, regularity has been a problem this season. However, perhaps no Barcelona player encompasses these frustrations better than a certain 21-year-old.
Pedri, one of Barça’s and football’s crown jewels, is a player whose quality and technique are already synonymous with elegance. Despite his tender age, he already has a Golden Boy award attached to his name, and for good reason. With him in Barcelona, the team gains an air of improvement few other players provide.
However, that is when he is with the team. His injury woes from previous seasons have made sure that it becomes next to impossible for Barcelona have him to themselves. Even as he currently recovers from the injury he sustained in San Mames, many are curious as to when he will return.
Fortunately, he has addressed the issue himself. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona star spoke to fans through an interactive app and replied as such when asked about when exactly he would return from injury:
“As soon as possible, but without specifying a date or a specific match. I want to be at my best to enjoy the most important part of the season with my teammates, because the upcoming matches are very exciting.”
He further stated:
“For now, everything is going well. Apart from my recovery and gym work, I take great care of my diet, cutting out things that didn’t make me feel good, and I do Pilates in addition to working in a hyperbaric chamber.”
So while there is no exact return date mentioned by Pedri, it is all positive updates. The young Barcelona superstar carries a lot of the team’s hope, and having him back in a decisive stretch of the season could be crucial for the team.
There is even a belief that he could end up showing for the PSG clash, most probably in the second leg but a first-leg cameo is not exactly ruled out either.
Speaking of PSG, another question Pedri was asked about was the chances of Barcelona winning in the Champions League. To this, the Barcelona midfielder stated: “Barça always has a chance in every competition. It hasn’t been an easy year, and there are very good rivals, but we are still in the competition and we are very motivated.”
