For FC Barcelona to remain competitive, they must keep thinking one step ahead of the competition. The Blaugranes do not possess the financial prowess they used to, and are heavily restricted in terms of spending these days. However, that does not mean that the right planning can not help Barcelona out.

Ahead of time, they have already sorted out a list of potential candidates worth pursuing. One of the highlighted names within that list just so happens to be Bernardo Silva, as per various reports. The 29-year-old Man City star remains one of the jewels of European football, and Barcelona consider him a top target for themselves.

In particular, it is believed that Xavi Hernandez himself wants to bring Silva over to Barcelona. Moreover, with reports suggesting he will have an active €50-60 million release clause in the summer, he becomes much more affordable for most top sides. Fortunately for Barcelona, however, one of their main competitors seems to have already pulled out of the race.

As per SPORT, French side Paris Saint-Germain seems to already have given up on the possibility of signing Bernardo Silva. While the Parisians have been linked constantly to the Portuguese star, it is now believed that he has no intentions of coming over back to the French league after previously having played for Monaco.

Moreover, it is heavily being reported that the 29-year-old treble winner with Manchester City is quite excited about the prospect of playing for Barcelona. Beyond his stint in England, his priority now lies in playing in Spain, and particularly for La Blaugrana.

While Real Madrid are also being linked to him, as were PSG in recent days, it now seems that his inclination towards Barcelona continues to prevail. However, the ability to bring up the funds needed to complete the operation itself is something that Barcelona will need to continue to work upon.
