FC Barcelona are set to face Paris Saint Germain in their upcoming match in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. This tie is going to be a crucial one for both sides, as PSG have ambitions of winning the Champions League, while Barcelona are also willing to fight till the very end in this competition.
However, it is not only on the pitch that these two clubs face each other, as the Parisians are also being linked with several FC Barcelona players at the moment. In recent weeks, the French side has been reported to be interested in Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong, and Lamine Yamal.
The Spanish outlet SPORT has provided some clarification on PSG’s reported interest in these players. According to their report, PSG are not interested in a possible acquisition of 25-year-old French defender Jules Kounde, even though they are in the market for a center-back.
The Parisians have suffered from injuries to their key defenders this season, and Skriniar has been unable to play for the entirety of this season. PSG incorporated the Brazilian Lucas Beraldo in the squad in the last winter window, who can play both in the center and on the left flank.
For now, the Parisians want another central defender, but one who is characterized by strength, physicality, and aerial ability. None of these are the defining characteristics of Kounde. However, Frenkie de Jong remains an alluring option for PSG, but they are not prioritizing a move for him as well and will make a push for him only after getting higher-priority targets.
As for Lamine Yamal, PSG love the player and have already consulted his agent, Jorge Mendes, but understand that a move for the 16-year-old whizkid at this point is almost impossible.
Thus, while the media remains abuzz with reports of PSG being interested in Barcelona players, only Frenkie has a chance to leave for the French club this summer.
