Former Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman’s prediction regarding Barcelona trio may become a reality

Barcelona have been obliged to bid some of their most legendary players farewell this summer. Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets brought an end to their chapter at the Blaugrana club as the pair departed after concluding a successful domestic season.

In addition to losing two icons of the club, the Catalans failed to reacquire Lionel Messi in the transfer window as delays in sending him an official offer led to the Argentine joining Inter Miami.

Three of the most popular La Masia graduates are now being reported to reunite in America. Mundo Deportivo has come out to acknowledge Ronald Koeman’s successful prediction regarding Alba, Messi, and Busquets’ possible reunion.

“I don’t think Messi will come back,” said the Netherlands coach. He also went on to mention that “Busquets will leave, Jordi Alba won’t stay either and the three are good friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went to Miami or Saudi Arabia together.”

At that moment, only Busquets’ exit was made official, while Alba did so the next week. With Messi practically having one foot in the MLS, Busquets is also closing in on a move to the Florida franchise. All that’s left is awaiting Alba’s decision.

However, the Spanish full-back still sees himself playing at a high level, given he is going strong and recently captained his nation to the Nations League trophy. Inter Miami held talks with Alba previously though and it is not ruled out that they sway his decision ultimately.

Having coached Barcelona between August 2020 and October 2022, Koeman’s forecast appears to be bearing fruit. Despite struggles on the pitch, the Dutchman understood his players well.
