FC Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation have not always seen eye to eye, and there have been several bones of contention between the two entities. One of the most notable such issues between the club and the national federation has been the usage of players owned by Barcelona.
The Catalans saw only this season how one of their most important players, Gavi, was injured while on duty with the Spanish national team, and now concerns are also rising about Cubarsi’s potential usage.
However, the injury suffered by Gavi does not indicate in any way that the federation does not care about these players. This was clear from some comments made by the national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, whose recent media talk has been reported by Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish national coach remembered Gavi at that event, and mentioned how the youngster needs the support of everyone involved in his career:
“I keep in touch with the injured players because it’s the toughest and ugliest part of sports. It’s that moment when you need support and closeness. When someone is injured, it seems like people forget about them.”
“Gavi is endearing, a good person, and he’s very loved by the group of federation workers. I have a relationship with him as with all those who have been injured. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery. First for him and then because we need him.”
Furthermore, de la Fuente also praised another Barcelona youngster who can be highly important for the Spain side as well going forward:
“He’s convinced to play with us, he shows it in every game. It should be a pride to be in the national team. We have to value being in the Selection, knowing how difficult it is.”
“Knowing that there are many good footballers who are left out. Being aware of that situation, coming here has to be a source of pride. You reach the top as a professional.”
As both these players can be key components of their national team squad for years to come, the Spain coach has an interest in their welfare as well. Thus, de la Fuente concern about these two Barcelona players is only natural.
